Culture & Canvas (free)

March 5 - April 30th

Wednesdays at 12pm

Brownsburg Public Library

Cultural experiences bring us together, shaping who we are and how we understand one another. In Culture & Canvas, you’ll learn the basics of drawing and painting while forming meaningful connections in a supportive, creative community.

Across eight weeks, we’ll share stories, honor diverse backgrounds, and inspire each other to grow as artists and individuals. At the end, we’ll celebrate your journey with a final gallery event, where you’ll showcase the work you’ve created—and the community you’ve helped build.

You will build skills in:

  • Drawing fundamentals

  • Painting techniques

  • Translating personal and cultural stories into visual form

Urban Landscapes (free)

The neighborhoods we call home are filled with stories waiting to be told. In “Urban Landscapes: Painting Your Neighborhood,” you’ll learn how to capture the heart of your surroundings through drawing, painting, and mixed media techniques.

Over eight weeks, we’ll explore perspective, composition, and the interplay of light and shadow while connecting with one another through the art that emerges. By the end, we’ll celebrate the community we’ve built with a final exhibit showcasing each artist’s unique interpretation of their neighborhood.

You will build skills in:

  • Mastering perspective in urban settings

  • Developing strong compositions and color choices

  • Incorporating mixed media to enhance storytelling

aRT IN THE GARDEN (FREE)

In Art in the Garden,created by Touba Gardens 4-H Club, youth participants (ages 12-18) will explore creative expression through painting while engaging with themes of nature and community. Over five days, this immersive program includes an art-making workshop, a collaborative mural installation, and a final exhibit to showcase their work. Adult volunteers will assist with mural installation and support program activities.

Program Schedule:
June 16-17: Art workshop – Youth participants will create individual canvas artworks inspired by nature and storytelling.
June 18-19: Mural installation – Touba Gardens intern from Butler University will work alongside youth participants to bring a large-scale community mural to life at the garden.
June 20th: : Exhibit reception – A special event to showcase all the artwork and celebrate the artists and volunteers.
